Saving the Browser

Saving the Browser: "It now seems that perhaps the browser itself and the browsing experience may have to be nontrivially modified as a result of the judgment. Although a bit late, if some of us perhaps dust off our old code, is there a chance that we could still save the browser through demonstration of clear prior art?

Comment: I read the extract in Ray's feed, moved right along, then read about it in Dan's feed" and then at the other Gillmor's, I said to myself I have to read it...What can I say I'm a big pushover, I hope not, but maybe it calls for using more tools that feeds me buzzing stories, and a feed reader that understands this concept...this is beyond my point...Ray is calling out for others to fight the good fight...I know it's defending M$ but the patent is not valid, so even if it's M$ it aint right. Dust up that old code!

Social Software

Social Software: "September12.org is a wiki set up by Tom Munnecke to coordinate actions that will '...create a cascade of positive emotions on the 12th.' The thing that caught my eye is that they are attempting to press the idea of FlashMobs into service for a larger cause.

Comment: Flashmob doesn't have to be bad all the time. It's good that some people are thinking about it for doing good. There is just not enough good stuff things. The reward for doing silly things or disruptive things is bigger than doing Good! How odd? Hmm let's introspect now, I don't think I have done silly or bad things lately, but what Good have I done, none either. Not bad, not good, just coasting dude!"

Huge numbers indeed

WERBLOG: "That includes 100 million camera phones and 30 million smartphones.

Comment: Wow! Now as an application developer those numbers really look good. The only problem is you just have as many platforms and proprietary protocols to deal with. It's another one of those situation that if you want to capitalize you need to make huge investments, which are for the most part available only to big CO. My view of what is possible out there is dimmer and dimmer, I'm in desperate need of an injection of innovative thinking. Still Mr Eddison himself said, an invention is 10% idea and 90% perspiration. I hope it's not the entrepreneu version of the sports one, "it not important to win, it's important to play" My sarcasm has no end!

Yahoo! News - Pvt. Lynch to Tell Story in $1 Million Book Deal

Yahoo! News - Pvt. Lynch to Tell Story in $1 Million Book Deal: "Former prisoner of war Jessica Lynch has signed a $1 million agreement with Alfred A. Knopf, giving the injured former U.S. Army private the chance to tell her own story, the publisher said on Tuesday.

Comment: Somehow I don't see thsi kind of things happening anywhere else but in the US? Only in the US can you capitalize on such thing. What's next an XBox game to save Jessica?"
